The Danish Whistleblower Act

The Danish act implementing the EU Whistleblower Directive (2019/1937), in force since December 2021. It obliges private companies with 50 or more employees and most public employers to establish an internal whistleblower scheme — the requirement has covered companies with 50-249 employees since 17 December 2023. The act protects whistleblowers against retaliation and requires confidentiality, acknowledgement of receipt within 7 days and feedback within 3 months. Violations can lead to fines and liability for damages.
